Trustees are abusing library funds
to party on the taxpayers' dime.
On Sept. 23, 2023 Trustee Chanese Coleman (Trustee 1) “invites” the other trustees to a gala event of the Mount Vernon non-profit ‘Y-Cop’.
They subsequently reserve a gala table
with $ 900 of taxpayer money
In violation of library policy, the check is only signed by one trustee, Dolores Mack (there should be two signatures).
Only two trustees attend the event with this reservation. Trustee Davis attends, but pays for his own ticket.
Trustee Hope Marable suggests buying more gala tickets from organizations she is a member of, the NAACP (11/02/23) and the Westchester Women’s Political Caucus event (10/20/23).
Trustee Jonathan Davis criticizes the misuse of library funds. A library consultant confirms that this is an improper use of taxpayer money.
In a Facebook post, trustee Loretta Thomas also raised questions about spending money on gala tables and how the check was issued.
