Library Email Campaign

Dear Mrs. Moore,

As a concerned resident of Mount Vernon, I am asking for your urgent intervention regarding the deplorable condition of the Mount Vernon Public Library.

Tragically, our treasured library faces disrepair and neglect due to a dysfunctional library board. This board flagrantly violates New York State Open Meetings Laws,
effectively excluding the public from witnessing their deplorable behavior. There is evidence of misappropriation of library funds for personal extravagances
and a concerning absence of independent financial audits since 2014. Further, the library's lapsed registration jeopardizes its very existence.

Board meetings are riddled with unproductive conflicts, highlighted by the recent restraining order against trustee Jonathan Davis,
inhibiting him from performing his duties. Leaked emails suggest rampant abuses of process and taxpayer money,
yet there seems to be no accountability or investigations.

I am asking you to start an immediate investigation into the Mount Vernon Library to rectify this blatant misuse of public resources and restore our library's dignity.

As a concerned resident of Mount Vernon, I am asking for your urgent intervention regarding the unacceptable condition of the Mount Vernon Public Library.

Tragically, our treasured library faces disrepair and neglect due to a dysfunctional library board. This board flagrantly violates New York State Open Meetings Laws, effectively excluding the public from the decision-making process, and precluding us from exercising our civic rights, and fulfilling our civic duties. There is evidence of misappropriation of library funds for personal extravagances and a concerning absence of independent financial audits since at least 2014. This lack of financial transparency into the use (or perhaps misuse) of taxpayer funds is unprecedented. Further, the library’s lapsed registration jeopardizes its very existence.

Board meetings are riddled with unproductive, uncivil, interpersonal conflicts, highlighted by the recent restraining order against trustee Jonathan Davis, inhibiting him from performing his duties. Leaked emails suggest rampant abuses of process and taxpayer money, yet there seems to be no accountability or investigations.

I am asking you to start an immediate investigation into the Mount Vernon Library to rectify this blatant misuse of public resources and restore our library’s dignity.”
